What is Depolymerization?

Just as bread can be returned to flour and water, depolymerization chemically breaks polymers down into their original raw materials.

Chemical recycling requires different approaches depending on the type and properties of the plastic.
Terracle operates depolymerization technologies for plastics produced through condensation polymerization, including PET, nylon, and polyurethane.

01 MOLECULE INFORMATION

Polymer (PET)

This is the stage in which post-use PET remains in its polymer structure.
It is the starting structure before depolymerization, with long-chain molecular bonds.

PROPRIETARY TECHNOLOGY

Terra-X™ Depolymerization

Terracle has researched and developed a range of hydrolysis-based depolymerization technologies. Its sixth-generation technology, Terra-X™, uses the visible-light catalyst Black TiO₂-Xto induce radical reactions under low-temperature, atmospheric-pressure conditions and improve decomposition efficiency.
